This autumn, the Adventus University of Cernica organized the opening of the 2024-2025 academic year on Monday, September 30, at 10:00 a.m. Still under the sign of the centenary year, this festive occasion saw the participation of teachers, students from the campus, representatives of the Conference Union (Pastors Georgel Pîrlitu and Valentin Filimon, Executive Secretary and Director of the Department of Education, respectively), parents, and several guests from the country and abroad.
The program began with several moments of worship through music, prayer, and devotional messages. Among the guests, we also note the presence of Mrs. Liliana Radu, the director of the Women's Mission Department within the Conference Union of the Adventist Church in Romania, and the director of Gimnazial School No. 2, in Tânganu, Melania Muntean. On behalf of the Women's Mission Department, Mrs. Liliana Radu offered five scholarships to students, scholarships that have been consistently disbursed in recent years. Mrs. Melania Muntean thanked the students for their involvement in the educational projects for children in the area of Cernica commune and presented them with a motivational message for the new university year. At the end of the program, the students and teachers reconfirmed through their messages that they start the new academic year with great trust in God and interest in continuing their educational training.
"At the beginning of this new academic year, I feel very confident. I think there will be a lot of new things that I will learn, and the teachers will help me overcome any difficulty. I am also excited to be reunited, on campus, with my friends and colleagues. I think we will have a blessed year. I want to finish my studies well and complete my bachelor's thesis, and then open a new chapter in my educational and professional training” Aurel Vișovan, fourth-year student, Pastoral Adventist Theology.
"For me it's the last year of studies, I'm in the third year of Social Work, and I have the feeling that this year has come too quickly, and that makes me think that I'm not ready. But I think everything will be fine and I'll pass my graduation exams. I want to continue to grow this year, at least as much as I have grown in the last two and, from each class, I want to learn as much as possible to have more knowledge in what I will do next. I have already discovered so many things here that have been of great use to me, which convinced me that I made a good decision when I chose Adventus University.” Ines Enache, third-year student, Social Work.
"When I look back on my two years on campus, now at the beginning of a new academic year, I realize how much I have grown and what wonderful experiences I have had with my professors and colleagues on campus. That's why I feel very motivated for the last year of my bachelor's degree, and I am grateful to God for so many special people that I have around me here but, above all, I thank Him for those in my family who support me and believe in me. I already feel a sense of nostalgia, being in the last year of my bachelor's degree but, most of all, I am convinced that the completion of my studies will be a real celebration of personal growth and faith!" Anelice Văleanu, third-year student, Pedagogy of Primary and Preschool Education.
The beginning of this academic year also coincided with the visit of a committee of the Adventist Accrediting Association, between October 1-3, a visit that prepares for the final evaluation meeting in 2026. It is a common practice that, in the middle of the five-year accreditation period, a committee assess the status of the recommendations to be implemented by the end of the accreditation period. The committee members appreciated the progress that Adventus University has made since the last visit and expressed confidence that all the proposed requirements will be successfully implemented by the next visit.
In the academic year 2024-2025, a total of 212 students are enrolled at Adventus University in the bachelor’s programs of Adventist Pastoral Theology, Social Work, and Pedagogy of Primary and Preschool Education; and in the master's programs in Pedagogy and Theology, Innovation in Education and Social Responsibility, and Contemporary Adventist Theology and Mission. Also present at the opening ceremony were the students of the nursing school "Dr. Luca", in Cernica, a school that has its headquarters on the campus, and which has 57 students enrolled in the 2024-2025 school year.
