Located in Collonges-sous-Salève, the Adventist Faculty of Theology (FAT), the only French-speaking institution of Adventist theological training in Europe, has begun a new academic year with renewed dynamism. For this 2024 academic year, the FAT welcomes 116 students, including a significant number of new faces.

A new era under the sign of renewal

The year 2024 marks a new chapter for the FAT with the arrival of Eurico Correia as dean. His welcome message highlights the legacy of the institution, which has trained generations of pastors and missionaries since its creation. It also underlines the FAT's commitment to quality theological education, combining academic rigor and practical application, which is always anchored in the proclamation of the Gospel.

A confirmed appeal to younger generations

With 30 new registrants, mostly under 35, FAT confirms its appeal to younger generations. In total, 70 students are taking in-person courses, divided between the Certificate of Biblical Initiation (CIB), the bachelor's degree, and the master's degree. 46 other students have opted for distance learning, demonstrating FAT's ability to adapt to contemporary realities.

Training spiritual leaders for today and tomorrow

FAT is committed to training individuals called to serve the Seventh-day Adventist Church, whether as pastors, missionaries, or theologians. The emphasis is on developing a deep spirituality, an unwavering attachment to Adventist values, and a solid knowledge of the Bible. The institution also aims to be a place of openness and humanity, supporting each student on their personal and spiritual journey.

A rich heritage, a vision for the future

Since its creation in 1921, FAT has established itself as a nerve center of French-speaking Adventist theology. Its commitment to academic excellence and its ability to adapt to the changing needs of the church have earned it recognition from the Adventist world church and other academic institutions.

By offering a variety of programs, from the Certificate of Biblical Initiation to the Master of Theology, FAT addresses a diverse audience eager to deepen their faith and serve the church. The institution thus continues to play a crucial role in the training of tomorrow’s spiritual leaders, contributing to the influence of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in France, French-speaking Europe, and throughout the world.
