On Sunday, May 12, this year's constituency of the Adventist Church in the Czech Republic was concluded. In Brno, in the Rubín cultural center, 204 delegates from all three Conferences met to complete the marathon of this year's constituency meetings.
The delegates were initially addressed by Mario Brito (president of the Inter-European Division), who got deep into the 12th chapter of the book of Romans, in which the Apostle Paul calls to offer oneself as a living, holy and acceptable sacrifice to God because this is the essence of true divine service. After President Brito’s devotional, there were reports from the institutions and departments of the Church.
The elected officers
Afterwards, the proposal of the appointment committee was heard and, subsequently, the following leaders were elected: David Čančík as executive secretary and Marek Škrla as treasurer of the Czech Union - both with approximately 95% support of the delegates present. Then followed the election of a new CSU executive committee, which was proposed and elected.
Changes in the Church Constitution
Another committee that worked concurrently with the conference proceedings was the committee for amending the Church Constitution. Thanks to its proposal, after the vote, the Constitution of the Church underwent a number of changes, which provided this key document with current formulations and terms, and modified the practice that corresponds to current conditions and needs. The last committee was the Credentials Committee, which granted credentials, permits or honorary credentials for the next 5 years to church employees and their institutions at the Union level, as well as to all preachers who are already retired and still serving according to their abilities.
The regular agenda
In addition to these proposals, the delegates dealt with the regular agenda, which, compared to the first session, was supplemented by three proposals that arose from the Czech Constituency. Thus, the delegates discussed and decided topics related to the education of preachers and other relevant issues.
Communication, Media and Mission
The Conference also expressed the need to pay more attention to the Church's media communication and expressed the will to see a close cooperation between the Department of Communication, the Mission and media centers.
Conclusion
Peter Čík (president of the Czech Union) ended the second day of the conference with a short address to the delegates present: “When we try to look back at how this year's Constituency looked, I can only express gratitude to God for the atmosphere that prevailed at this and other conferences,” commented Cik. “I believe we left for our homes with a feeling of a job well done. We discussed and decided on everything that is currently the key challenge of the church,” continued Cik. “The discussion was substantive and, for the most part, conducted in a brotherly spirit,” concluded Cik.
