Rome, Italy [BIA; CD EUDNews]. Can new technology promote evangelism? Is it useful to convey religious information and facilitate spiritual growth? We live in an age where technology advances at such a rate that we do not have time to get used to or familiar with any tool, before it becomes obsolete and out of commerce.
Our church has always believed in the appropriate use of tools that technology provides. The Adventist world church began evangelizing with the press then moved on to radio, television and now the internet. In Italy we're going down the same path!
Today, through web-television (TV channels accessed through the internet), we can reach thousands, millions, or even billions of people. Of course, we can never have an audience numbering in the billions, because our language is spoken by fewer than one hundred million people in the world, but we can potentially reach all of those.
For example: the worship service broadcasted live every Saturday morning on the internet allows more than 100 users to follow along.
Then add all those tuning in to our FM radio programs, which can be heard via satellite and web. It's pretty much another community. One larger than the number of registered Italian Seventh-Day Adventists!
We can choose what is good and useful, and continue to use technology in the future!
There are plenty of people who follow us on the radio, web-TV and our websites, they are connected to us, constantly downloading audio files and watching videos, both live and on-demand (through the "Channels" function used for watching recorded programs).
This is our slogan:
Hope Channel Italy turns 2 years old... and the best is yet to come!
For lack of grants to free and available frequencies wehave not been able to use classic television as a medium, but modern technology allows us to broadcast television through the internet on our website: www.hopechannel.it
Every month we produce a few hours of transmissions on our network as if they were live programs, using programming and Channels (the function on demand). This service allows users to follow a free television program at any time they wish.
In addition, you can follow our web-television either from a desktop computer connected to the internet, or if you are on the go, by modern smart phones and tablets (Android, Apple and Windows). Please let others know about our web-television service. Use the flyers that we have prepared and please support our project by donation, in particular to the Adventist Italian television.
"We congratulate the entire Italian Union Communications Team! We are happy about their good work and excellent results. May God continue to bless their mission!" - Corrado Cozzi, EUD Communications Director.
