CZK 870,000 (35.000 euros) are ready to be distributed by the Czech Union of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. In recent years, the grant call has focused on helping the elderly and people from disadvantaged social conditions or from social pathological backgrounds with the aim of actively involving individuals in solving their situation. The Czech Association of the Seventh-day Adventist Church also supports counselling for these groups.

The grant committee will submit a proposal for the distribution of funds and read the proposals carefully, study them, obtain information about the applicant from public sources, and examine the attached budget to ensure that it is consistent with the application.

"Applicants for the grant are Adventist congregations and non-profit organizations founded by members of Czech churches, Czech congregations and the Adventist Church itself, which operate in cooperation with institutions and congregations of the Church in the Czech territory," says Petr Kafka, chairman of the grant committee, according to the current methodology.

ADRA, the Protěž Liberec Centre, the Petrklíč Community Centre, the Pohlazení association from Sokolov, the Protěž Prague Volunteer Centre, and the choirs of the Czech Association in Beroun, Prague-Chodov, Teplice and Sokolov participated in the 2024 grant procedure. There were 10 applications for support in 2024.

The grant committee was again impressed by the professional social work of the registered Protěž Institute in Liberec. Among the new applicants were congregations wishing to pay, for example, for travel expenses so that people with disabilities could attend services. This is also possible, and the church supports such activities. The grant committee also approved the application of ADRA. The Czech Association contributes to the salary of the coordinators of the volunteer centres in České Budějovice, Česká Lípa, Chomutov, Příbram, Prague, Liberec and Plzeň.

"An interesting feature of the last grant procedure was the project 'Roma learn to grow vegetables'. A pleasant surprise for the members of the grant committee was that they received a jar of preserved and grated vegetables. Thanks to the donors, the vegetables were really tasty,” said Petr Kafka.
