During a Russian shelling near the city of Ochakiv, six civilians were injured, including Adventist church ministers. Unfortunately, Elder Artur Kucheryavenka could not be saved.
Adventist church ministers, Vladislav and Artur Kucheryavenka, father and son, were providing humanitarian aid in the village of Solonchaki (Kutsurubska community, Mykolaiv region) on November 25, 2024. Vladislav and Artur brought coal for targeted distribution to the villagers in preparation for the winter season.
It was at this time that they came under Russian drone fire, during which six civilians were injured. Due to the continued shelling, doctors were unable to provide emergency care on the spot, and the injured were taken to the hospital.
Pastor Vladislav Kucheryavenka underwent surgery and is in serious condition.
Unfortunately, his son, Artur, who was seriously injured, could not be saved. Artur served as a deacon in the Adventist community of Mykolaiv.
The Adventist Church in Ukraine expresses its condolences to the family of pastors Vladislav and Maryna Kucheryavenkov. We pray for the recovery of the injured.
As a reminder, the charitable organization ADRA Ukraine (Adventist Development and Relief Agency) previously reported that a drone attacked an ADRA Ukraine humanitarian aid distribution point in the Kharkiv region, injuring one person. In September, drones attacked a bread distribution point in the Kherson region, resulting in the concussion of a local volunteer.
Since the beginning of the conflict, dozens of ministers of various churches and religious organizations have been killed. Hundreds of churches and houses of worship have also been destroyed or damaged. Adventist military medic Oleksandr Kobernyk died at the front. Ukranian President Zelensky, posthumously awarded Oleksandr Kobernyk the Order of Courage, 3rd degree.
