More than 2,600 Adventist Christians from German-speaking Switzerland are invited to the 121st annual conference on Saturday, 23 March 2024. The event will take place at the Parkarena Congress Centre, in Winterthur, under the motto "Shaping the future together - moved by HIM". Visitors are also welcome to attend the annual Adventist conference.

"The church is us and the mission to which we have been called by Jesus will continue until HE returns,” writes Pastor Stephan Sigg, president of the Adventist Church in German-speaking Switzerland, in the flyer on the conference theme.

“Church building is, therefore, part of our everyday life of faith and we can all contribute to it with our gifts. We are all part of God's mission in this world. But the world is moving. Time does not stand still, and society is changing. That is why we build - with confidence,"concludes Sigg.

The joint church service on the Sabbath of the annual conference is the highlight of the congregational life of the Adventist church. The theme of the 2024 annual conference is centered on mission.

Adventists in Switzerland

A forerunner congregation of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Switzerland was founded in Tramelan (Bernese Jura) in 1867, and the first official Adventist congregation was founded in Basel in 1883. In 1901, the church congregations in Switzerland were divided into two "federations" according to language affiliation: the "Swiss German Federation", based in Zurich, and the "Fédération de la Suisse Romande et du Tessin", based in Renens/VD.

On December 31, 2023, the Swiss-German Federation comprised 32 parishes and four groups with 2,604 baptised adult members. The Adventist Church runs its own primary and secondary schools in Zurich and Reinach/AG. The Adventist publishing house and the "Oertlimatt" retirement and nursing home, both in Krattigen/BE, the St. Stephan youth centre in Simmental/BE, the "Hope Bible Study Institute" Bible correspondence school and the Religious Education Institute (RPI) are among the church institutions in German-speaking Switzerland. The preachers are mainly trained at the Bogenhofen Theological Seminary in Upper Austria, which is jointly supported by the Adventists of German-speaking Switzerland and Austria. The Swiss-wide organisations include the Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA Switzerland), a partner aid organisation of Swiss Solidarity, the Adventist Press Service (APD), and the Life and Health League (LLG).
