The Adventist churches around the world will start the new year with a special time dedicated to the Lord. From January 11 to 21, 2023, the Ten Days of Prayer will return.
"God has performed many miracles in the past editions of this experience because we have sought Him by praying and fasting," say the organisers in the introduction to the material. "The Holy Spirit has promoted an awakening, has been at the origin of numerous conversions, has stimulated a new passion for evangelization, and has allowed broken relationships to be restored. Prayer is the true genesis of revival!"
Past. Dwain N. Esmond prepared the daily resources on the theme "Returning to worship at the altar".
We live in a fast-paced society, characterised by worry, uncertainty and confusion. "If you, too, are concerned about the trend that this world of ours is following," the organisers emphasise, "we invite you to embark, for ten days, on a journey of prayer into the very heart of God, where burdens are lightened, wounds healed, and where we can find strength again. You will be invited to rebuild your own personal altar at which to worship the true and living God, for He has promised: 'You will call upon me, you will come and pray to me, and I will hear you' (Jeremiah 29:12)".
“The Ten Days of Prayer initiative is an essential part of the life of any church seeking unity and God's guidance,” said Ventsislav Panayotov, director of the Ministerial Association of the Inter-European Division of Seventh-day Adventists. “The Bible teaches that prayer is the practice where revival is born, and the place where the church discovers the spirit of mission and service. The history of the early church, as well as the many experiences of churches in our time, testify to the power of the united prayer of believers,” continues Panayotov. “We want to encourage every church member to participate in this year's initiative, and to experience, in a personal way, God's presence and encouragement, as well as fellowship with other Christians,” concluded Panayotov.
