New leadership at the Adventist High School Bogenhofen (Austria)

The Adventist Oberstufenrealgymnasium (high school) Bogenhofen in St. Peter am Hart (Upper Austria) has a new headmaster. With the beginning of the 2nd semester of the 2022/23 school year, the previous director MMag. Heinz Schaidinger, M.T., M.A., who had been in charge since the 2nd semester of the 2011/12 school year, was replaced by Gerson Engel, M.Sc. M.Ed. Director Schaidinger will retire at the end of the 2022/23 school year.

Heinz Schaidinger has been teaching at ORG Bogenhofen since 1991. His teaching topics over the years have included Adventist religion, history and political education, philosophy and psychology, French and Latin. He is also a lecturer at the Bogenhofen Theological Seminary, specialising in church history and the Old Testament.

Between 1999 and 2016, Schaidinger was also department head for education in the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Austria. Since 2003, he has also been their music commissioner.

Gerson Engel has been at ORG Bogenhofen since 2017 and teaches physics, chemistry and mathematics. He studied physics in Potsdam (bachelor’s degree) and biophysics in Berlin (master’s degree) and later continued his education at the Technical University of Munich (Bachelor and Master of Education, teaching degree in mathematics and physics).

He is married to Anna Lena Engel, who teaches mathematics and biology at the ORG Bogenhofen. They have one daughter.

Bogenhofen Seminary was founded in 1949 by the Austrian and the German-speaking Swiss Seventh-day Adventist Church and is located in Upper Austria, close to the German border. The institution includes an upper secondary school (high school) with a music and an arts and crafts branch, a theological seminary, a School of Education (primary school teacher training), and a language school (German as a foreign language). About 140 pupils and students are currently being educated at Bogenhofen Seminary, some of whom come from Germany and Switzerland, among other countries.
