The 60th General Conference Session is starting the process to elect the division’s nominating committee. This is the starting point to compose the other two important nominating meetings: the Division's and the General Conference's (GC) one. How does it work?

Every division is meeting at the same time, today, to nominate the members that will compose these two important committees. For the Inter-European Division, the number of the members for this committee is 17, according to the number of delegates that it is fixed at 119. The EUD has about 180.000 church members, thus 119 delegates represent the division Caucus (the delegate’s assembly).

The process is relatively simple. All the delegates are gathered in regional groups. There are three groups for the unions, and one group for the institutions.

The delegates accepted by vote to consider all the Union presidents already members of the nominating committee.

There is a reason for that. 12 out of the 17 members are included in the GC nominating committee, and as the Union presidents attend every year the GC executives, they have a deeper insight regarding the people to be elected as the world wide church leadership.

The procedure, in this case, contemplates the election of 3 lay members, one pastor and 2 institution administrators to be added to the 11 Union presidents.

This division nominating committee will be chaired by a GC vice president. This time, Elder Arthur Stele has been appointed for the EUD.

Starting from today, the 12 members of the EUD nominating committee will join the GC nominating Committee composed by about 252 members coming from all 13 divisions. They will work to elect at first the GC president, afterwards the Executive Secretary and finally the Treasurer.

Once the GC officers are elected, the GC nominating committee proceeds to elect all the other charges including department’s directors, associates and other positions directly depending on the GC offices.

The division nominating committee will start its work once the GC officers are elected. Its first duty is to elect the president. Afterward the Executive Secretary and finally the Treasurer. The business work will continue until all Departmental directors are elected.

After one hour of meeting, the 17 members have been elected - and the names are : Antonio Rodriguez Jesus Calvo, Ruben de Abreu, David Jenna, Marius Munteanu, Ventislav Panayotov, Stefano Paris, Reiner Wanitschek, Johannes Naether, Mikulas Pavlic, Christian Grassel (Union presidents). Isabel Monet, Karin Bonnet, Palade Titi (lay member). Lupu Savel (pastor). Mario Martinelli, Nicolas Walter (Institutions).

Now that the name have been voted in the General Assembly, the works can start under the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
