With each day that passes, confusion and tumult surround us, as we look helplessly at how things change every day, aware of an uncertain future ahead.
But there is a beacon of hope and light from our Father, named ADRA Romania, that is continuing its mission of caring for many people in need.
Through the project “Humanitarian Support COVID-19”, it carries out its mission with the sustenance and love of God.
In the 17th week of implementation of the “Humanitarian Support COVID-19” project, the ADRA team reached 3,946 people, including: 733 single elderly people with acute subsistence needs; 90 children from disadvantaged backgrounds, but who have exceptional academic results; 3,074 adults fighting to ensure decent living conditions, 34 entrepreneurs continuing their economic activity, 10 immigrants, and 5 victims of domestic violence.
Therefore, in the week June 28 to July 04, 2020, alone, the ADRA project “Covid-19 Humanitarian Support” engaged their specialized services adapted to the specific needs caused or highlighted by Covid-19 context for 3,946 individuals: 3,788 beneficiaries received basic food for a decent living, of which 75 people received a hot meal, daily, at home; 10 beneficiaries received food and hygiene products, medicines, or protective equipment for crisis; 100 new-borns received help, according to their needs; 10 people benefited from social assistance and psychological counseling for crisis; 34 entrepreneurs were supported in adopting and carrying out their economic activity; 4 people received help, through shelter provided.
The humanitarian help offered by ADRA Romania consists of information, awareness, counseling, and distribution of food and hygiene products. The services and products are provided by the qualified personnel of the ADRA team who act in accordance with the security and safety policies and rules imposed by current laws of the World Health Organization (WHO), Strategic Communication Group, Health Ministry, General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU). This is achieved in partnership with local authorities and accredited institutions. Some specialized services have been outsourced.
“In my daily work, I have the opportunity to closely watch each of the ADRA projects,” said Alexandru Clodeanu, administrator of ADRA Romania. “I realized that one is not more important than another. Each project brings relief, hope, and help to those in need. This picture motivates the whole team and helps us to overcome even the most difficult moments because our fellow humans need our help and only together can we answer this call. ADRA is at the forefront with the volunteers and all those involved and moving forward, regardless of the consequences. Even if victims appear, only one thought guides us: the love and good of our fellow people,” Clodeanu concluded.
