ADRA Italy has been active in Sicily through the local coordination of Palermo, Catania, Mazara del Vallo and other cities of the region. About 90 volunteers give their precious support in Siciliy.

ADRA coordinates food distribution activities in Palermo, Catania, Mazara del Vallo, Santa Margherita Belice, Sciacca, Piazza Armerina and Niscemi in collaboration with other local associations.

In Catania, thanks to the "A smile to donate" group, activities are organized in hospitals. In Sciacca, ADRA carries out activities for disabled and children in the hospital.

In Palermo there is also a day care center to facilitate the integration of foreign women of Romanian nationality. There are also many social and group activities that local sections carry out: the summer camp in Santa Margherita Belice; preventing homelessness in Catania; the social project "Together We welcome" (for refugees) in Niscemi, solidarity events in Catania and Palermo; the service center in Mazzarone, a small town in the province of Catania.

ADRA has also been active with Italian courses for foreign adults in Palermo; support activities for detainees in the Penitentiary of Ragusa; entertainment activities in the Mental Education Center of Ragusa, in collaboration with the local sanitary institution; assistance to refugees landed in Sicily in the ports of Palermo and Augusta; training events with the Civil Protection of Marianopoli (EN), in collaboration with the Adventist Life & Health Association.

ADRA Italy was founded in Rome in 1984 as OSA (Opera Sociale Avventista: Adventist Social Work), as a legally constituted association; only in 1997 the association acquired the official name of ADRA Italy, becoming one of the 120 agencies of the worldwide ADRA network.
